It covers 73,000 ha including nearly 40,000 ha of mangroves. It became Vietnam's first international biosphere reserve recognized by MAB/UNESCO on 21 January 2000 and included in the world network of Biosphere Reserves. With the great diversity of founa and flora typical of tropical mangrove ecosystem, and with historical and cultural tradition, Can Gio has become one of the favourite destination of tourists who love the nature and want to reserve it.
